Doc Severinsen is best known for his 30 year run performing and conducting The Tonight Show band (retiring along with Johnny Carson in 1992). What he isn’t known for is his solo albums including the incredible Doc Severinsen’s Closet where the big band performs arrangements of at the time contempory rock music. Their version of King Crimson’s “The Court of the Crimson King” is bonkers and awesome at the same time.
