One of the funkiest grooves you’ll ever hear is on the Michael McDonald song “I Keep Forgettin’” that he recorded soon after leaving The Doobie Brothers. Jeff Porcaro is the drummer making the impossible sound easy here. Famously, he dropped a stick while recording the song and grabbed another one and kept going without missing the beat (around 2:00 in). The bass drum triplets near the end of the song also slay me every time…he’s playing that with a single pedal! Unreal!
